Christopher A. Mikel, 23, died June 27, 2016, at his home.

Born Aug. 3, 1992, in Kennett, to Kelly Mikel of New Madrid and Crystal and Joe Smith of Malden, he was a member of the Church of Christ in New Madrid.

He had served as a specialist with the Army National Guard, 1st Platoon, 1127th Military Police Company in Kennett.

On Dec. 29, 2015, he married Erin Casey McKay, and she survives of the home.

Also surviving are: one daughter, McKenzie Mae Mikel of the home; one brother, Kell Lee Mikel of Malden; one sister, Chelsey Cathey of McAllister, Okla.; and his grandmother, Donna Mae Payne of Gideon.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bobby Roberson and Sarah Jane Mikel.

Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 30th at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 with Jay Lyles officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery.
