Schedule Released for Swing Pink Softball Tournament

Dexter, Missouri - The Swing Pink Softball Tournament schedule has been released for the Saturday, April 9th fundraiser.

Twenty teams are slated to compete at five softball fields and is the largest Swing Pink Tournament since it began.  Sixteen teams will play in two eight-team brackets.  The other four teams will compete in a four-team pool play competition.

Teams competing in Bracket A are Dexter, Van Buren, Woodland, Greenville, New Madrid County Central, Senath-Hornersville, Naylor, and Holcomb.

Teams competing in Bracket B are West County, Winona, Southland, East Carter County, Neelyville, Advance, Clearwater, and Bernie.

Puxico, Bloomfield, Charleston, and Zalma will compete in Pool Play.

Bracket A

11:00 a.m. #1 Van Buren vs #8 Dexter Field A

11:00 a.m. #4 Woodland vs #5 Greenville Field B

11:00 a.m. #3 NMCC vs #6 Senath Field C

11:00 a.m. #2 Naylor vs #7 Holcomb Filed D

1st Place is slated for 7:00 p.m. on Field C

3rd Place is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Field D

5th Place is scheduled on Field A at 7:00 p.m.

7th Place is scheduled on Field B at 7:00 p.m.

Bracket B

9:00 a.m. #1 West County vs #8 Winona Field A

9:00 a.m. #4 Southland vs #5 East Carter Field B

9:00 a.m. #3 Neelyville vs #6 Advance Field C

9:00 a.m. #2 Clearwater vs #7 Bernie Field D

1st Place is slated for 5:00 p.m. on Field C

3rd Place is slated for 5:00 p.m. on Field D

5th Place is slated for 5:00 p.m. on Field A

7th Place is slated for 5:00 p.m. on Field B

In the four team pool, #2 Bloomfield will play #3 Charleston at 9:00 a.m. on Field G.  #1 Puxico will play #4 Zalma at 11:00 a.m. on Field G.  Bloomfield plays Zalma at 1:00 p.m. on Field D, Charleston will play Zalma at 5:00 p.m. on Field G and Puxico will play Bloomfield at 7:00 p.m. on Field G.

Home fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, pulled pork, nachos, chips, cookies, crackers, pickles, candy, popcorn, water,  Powerade, soda, t-shirts and INFLATABLES for the kids will be available at the event.  All proceeds on sales will be donated to 18ForeLife and St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Dexter Cruises Past Cape Central

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats boys tennis team improved their record to 2-1 with a 7-2 road victory over Cape Central on Thursday, March 31, 2016.

The tennis match was originally slated for Wednesday, but Mother Nature had some showers in store moving the match to Thursday.

Dexter won four of their six singles matches and all three of their doubles matches.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats boys tennis team defeated Notre Dame 8-1 on March 29, 2016.

 

Dexter won all three of their doubles matches and five of six singles matches.

Perryville, Missouri - The Dexter track team traveled to Perryville on Tuesday afternoon.  The Lady Cats placed 2nd out of 10 teams competing.

1st place 300m Hurdles - MaKayla Waldner 45.33

Dexter Baseball team Topples Malden 11-1

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats baseball team toppled the Malden Green Wave 11-1 this week.  Riley Mason completed five innings for the win.

"Riley threw a great game," stated Dexter baseball coach Brian Becker.  "He was able to change speeds effectively and kept their hitters off balance.  He also did a great job of fielding his position."

Dexter scored four runs int he bottom of the second, six runs in the third and one run in the fifth inning.  Green Wave managed to record their only run in the top of the second inning.

Mason allowed one run, two hits, two walks, and struck out five.  Jacob Pedigo and Cody Pullum each had a hit and two RBIs.  Jason Jarrell and Riley Mason finished 2 for 3 with one RBI.  Trevor McDonald and Spencer Owens, and Hunter Parrott each added one RBI.

"I thought we did a much better job at the plate," continued Becker.  "Our hitters were much more aggressive on pitches in the zone and that's what we have to do in order to be successful."

Final Score Dexter 11, Malden 1

Dexter   0  4  6  0  1  -  11  8

WP - Riley mason.  Multiple Hits: (D) Jason Jarrell 2-3 and Riley Mason 2-3.

Dexter will be back in action on Monday at Ste. Genevieve.  They Play Oran and Valle Catholic at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
