In Memory of Robert Brian Dodd

Robert Brian Dodd, born March 14th, 1959, departed this life on June 30th, 2023 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.


He proudly served his country in the 2nd Armored Division of the United States Army, and retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation after 14 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the company of his many family members and friends. 


Robert was a devoted father, brother, son and light in the lives of all those fortunate enough to have known him. 


He was preceded in death by his mother, Dixie Marie Watkins, of Dexter, MO. And his sister, Kimberly Darlene Morgan, of Bernie, MO. 


He is survived by one son, Terrill Owen Dodd of Poplar Bluff, MO. Brother, Joel Dean Dodd of Benicia, CA. And his father, Robert Lafayette Dodd of Dexter, MO. As well as many extended family members. 


Memorial services will be held on July 2, 2023 at Sycamore Cemetery in Pyletown, MO at 3:00 pm. We invite all who knew Robert to join together in celebration of his life and share in his memory as he is laid to rest.

Regina Mister, daughter of Curtis Butts and Margaret Grace of Baltimore, Maryland, was born on March 8, 1966, in Baltimore, Maryland, and departed this life on June 29, 2023, at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 57 years.

Ms. Mister was a former homemaker for VNA in Dexter, Missouri.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sons, Joseph Mister of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and John Mister of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, Curtis Butts Jr. of Kentucky, and Daniel Gant of Baltimore, Maryland; by her sister, Peggy Khaliq of Baltimore, Maryland, and by two grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Emma Cook

Emma Cook, daughter of the late Ross Croy and late Allie McKinney Croy was born on October 25, 1931 in Advance, Missouri and departed this life on June 27, 2023, in O’Fallon, Illinois at the age of 91.


Emma had worked as a medical transcriptionist and was a resident of Fairview Heights, Illinois. She enjoyed reading, but her greatest joy was taking care of her many beloved pets, all of whom were waiting eagerly to welcome her into her new home when her life here was over.


She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Williams of Fairview Heights, Illinois; by her brother, Bertis Croy of St. Charles, Missouri; her sister, Bonnie Johns of Advance, Missouri; and by several beloved nieces and nephews.


Along with her parents and beloved pets, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.


A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter, Missouri. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

In Memory of Nola Mae Swain

Nola Mae Swain, daughter of the late Cecil Willeford and Myrtle Hayes Willeford, was born on May 4, 1951, in Fisk, Missouri, and departed this life on June 23, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 72 years.

Mrs. Swain was a homemaker and babysitter. She attended the Church of Christ in Fisk, Missouri, and was a resident of Broseley, Missouri. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, and watching lawn mowing shows on YouTube, and she loved taking care of kids and spending time with her family.

On January 16, 1971, in Fisk, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Dale Swain. Mr. Swain survives of their home in Broseley.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Bryan Swain and fiancé Donna of Broseley, Missouri; by three daughters, Cassandria Swain of Dexter, Missouri, Erica Summerfield and husband Kevin of Doniphan, Missouri, and Kelly Whitlock and husband Tommy of Broseley, Missouri; by two brothers, Vernon Willeford and wife Charlene of Gray Summitt, Missouri, and Walter Willeford and wife Debbie of Broseley, Missouri, by two sisters, Linda Nelson and husband Ralph of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Anita Kester of Bernie, Missouri; by thirteen grandchildren, Zackery Hicks and wife Ashleigh, Savannah Martin and husband Ronnie, Jeridan Swain-Goodman, Ryleigh Goodman, Jaxson Goodman, McKenna Summerfield, Austin Summerfield, Kole Whitlock and wife Josie, Harli Robertson and husband Trent, Kaleb Whitlock, Brayden Whitlock, Rashayla Davis, and Diontay Davis; by nine great-grandchildren, Kylie Luck, Kendall Luck, Kennadie Hicks, Kamdon Hicks, Karter Hicks, Klyde Hicks, Kleo Hicks, Kash Whitlock, and Marcella Whitlock; and by several nieces and nephews

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Willeford and one in infancy.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.

Stetson Lee Hill, the son of Thomas Hill and Lexis Weber both of Dexter, Missouri was born on December 23, 2022 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed this life on June 23, 2023 at the age of six months.

Other than by his parents, Stetson is survived by his brother, Grayson Weber of Dexter, Missouri; by his sister, Avah Hill of Dexter, Missouri; by his paternal grandparents, “Papa” James and “Gigi” Randi-Ann Hill of Dexter, Missouri; and by his maternal grandparents, “Papa” Derek and “Nana” April Sullivan of Dexter, Missouri; by his paternal great-grandmother, Dee Cash of Dexter, Missouri; and by his maternal grandfather, Steven Fugitt of Owensville, Missouri

Stetson was preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, Lee and Linda Hill; and by his maternal great-grandmother, Donna Kay Williams.

A private funeral service is being planned for Stetson’s family and close friends.
