
Evelyn Crowell, of Bloomfield, daughter of the late William "Bill" Marvin and Martha Jane Burroughs Latham, was born in Matthews, Missouri on December 15, 1920, and passed away at her granddaughters home in Bloomfield on March 31, 2017, at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 16 days.
She had lived in Southeast Missouri all of her life. She loved gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking. On September 4, 1937, she married Jack Crowell in Charleston, Missouri. Evelyn and Jack lived at Birds Corner where they ran a family grocery store until it closed in 1969. They then farmed until ill health forced them to retire. After Jack passed away on February 16, 1991, she moved to Dexter.
She was of the Baptist faith, and was well known for her Christian generosity in the baking of pies, and chicken & dumplings. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren.
Surviving are three grandchildren & spouses, Marty Starnes, John & Felicia "Pete" Tilley and Tammy & Danny Starnes all of Bloomfield; nine great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren.
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and many friends also survive. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Darrell Crowell; two daughters, Bonnie Sue Crowell and Patty Jane Tilley, two granddaughters, Mary & Sherry Tilley; three brothers & six sisters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Ray Rowland of Dexter officiating.
Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
