Specialty Products & Services in the Dexter, Poplar Bluff, and Kennett areas are now hiring Direct Support Professionals.

Direct Support Professionals play an important role here in their agency. The main role of the DSP is to provide assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. Some other main duties are promoting and encouraging independence, ensuring the individual is cared for in a supportive and caring manner, and helping to maintain a safe/healthy/clean environment for the individual.

Starting Wage - $13/hr

Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid Driver’s License, liability insurance, a High School Diploma or GED, and reliable transportation.

Stoddard County Commissioners Seek Bids on Emergency Management Truck

Stoddard County, MO - The Stoddard County Commission is requesting bids to purchase a new truck for the County's Emergency Management Office.

Bids should be securely sealed and properly marked "Sealed Bid for Emergency Management Truck" on the outside of the envelope to indicate the contents.

The bids should be addressed to the Stoddard County Commission and mailed to P.O. Box 110, Bloomfield, MO 63825 or delivered to the Stoddard County Clerk's office at 401 S. Prairie St. in Bloomfield.

Bid must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 and will be opened at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 7th in the Stoddard County CommissionChambers, located at 401 S. Prairie St., Bloomfield.

MDC Cape Nature Center, Southeast Regional Office closed Jan. 14, 15 due to COVID-19

Both locations will reopen Jan. 18 following the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will close its Southeast Regional Office in Cape Girardeau on Jan. 14, and Cape Girardeau Nature Center on Jan. 14 - 15 due to COVID-19. Both locations will reopen Jan. 18.

The Southeast Regional Office will be closed to visitors Friday, Jan. 14. During this time, staff will be available by phone at (573) 290-5730 to assist the public with conservation-related requests. The Southeast Regional Office will also be closed Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The Nature Center building will be closed to visitors Friday, Jan. 14, and  Saturday, Jan. 15. However, the trails and other outdoor areas will remain open. Outdoor and virtual programs scheduled for Jan. 14 - 15 are also canceled. For more information, call Cape Girardeau Nature Center at (573) 290-5218.

Route 153 in Stoddard County Reduced for Shoulder Repairs

Route 153 in Stoddard County will be reduced as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs.

This section of roadway is located from Route Z to Route A.

Weather permitting, work will take place Wednesday, Jan. 12 through Friday, Jan. 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The work zone will be marked with signs.  Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
