Josephine Marie Stinson, daughter of the late Homer Treadway and Rosa Violet Long Treadway, was born on September 15, 1927 in Pontiac, Michigan, and departed this life on October 19, 2020 at Puxico Nursing and Rehab Center in Puxico, Missouri, at the age of 93 years.
Mrs. Stinson was a former employee of the International Hat Factory in Dexter, working as a buckle sewer. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Wappapello, Missouri and a resident of Wappapello.
On March 30, 1946, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Horace Abner Stinson. Mr. Stinson preceded her in death on December 12, 2002.
She is survived by her son, Doug Stinson and wife Sheila of Puxico, Missouri; by two daughters, Connie Floyd and husband Jerry of Cedar Hill, Missouri and Angela Walker and husband Terry of Wappapello, Missouri; by her brother, Wayne Treadway of Livingston, Texas; by two sisters, Joyce Fortune of Newberg, Indiana and Norma Nash of Marshfield, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Doug Stinson Jr., Rhonda Hunneycutt, Terri McCart, and Ronald Floyd; by five great-grandchildren, Cody Stinson, Anthony Peters, Emily Welty, Brendan McCart, and Megan McCart; and by four great-great grandchildren, Remington Huggins, Braden Welty, Audrey McCart, and Reese Marie Peters.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Treadway and Harold Treadway; and by her sister, Mae Pope.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Lambert officiating.
Interment will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Kinder Church, John 3:16 Ministries transition house.
The Stinson family requests that everyone wear a mask.
