Mary Lou Northern, daughter of the late Thomas Pulliam and Evelyn Wyatt Pulliam, was born on February 9, 1944 in Doniphan, Missouri, and departed this life on February 24, 2021 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 77 years.
Mrs. Northern was a former babysitter in the Dexter area. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.
On December 24, 1965, in Charleston, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Northern. Mr. Northern preceded her in death on November 14, 1998.
She is survived by her son, Scott Northern and wife Robin of Dexter, Missouri; by her daughter, Michele Silvey and husband Ron of Joplin, Missouri; by three brothers, George Pulliam of Grayridge, Missouri, Daniel Pulliam of Essex, Missouri, and Virgil Pulliam of Wappapello, Missouri; by three sisters, Laura Heppe and Kay Etherton, both of Essex, Missouri, and Betty Lampkin of Arkansas; and by seven grandchildren, Joseph Northern of Columbia, Missouri, Rebekah Northern of Jackson, Wyoming, Andrew Northern of Columbia, Missouri, Mackinlee Rogers of Oxford, Mississippi, Blair Rogers of Columbia, Missouri, and Hannah Silvey and Sarah Silvey, both of Joplin, Missouri.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death her brother, James Pulliam; and by her sister, Ruth Teague.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dale Jones officiating.
Interment will follow in the New Essex Cemetery.

Mildred Irene Hyslop, 88, the daughter of the late Joe Ellis and Geneva Davenport Ellis Jarrell, was born May 28, 1932, in Dexter, Missouri, and died peacefully at her rural Bloomfield home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, following a brief battle with cancer.
Mrs. Hyslop was a former seamstress for Elder Manufacturing, retiring after 40 years of service. She was a devoted member of Mt. Gilead Hills General Baptist Church.
She was united in marriage to James C. Hyslop on March 29, 1947, in Dexter, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2003.
Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Hyslop was preceded in death by one son, David Joseph Hyslop; a granddaughter, Christy Sunshine Hyslop; her stepfather, Cecil Jarrell; her sister, Velda Ott; and her half-sister, Eunice Ellis.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Kathryn) Hyslop of Dexter, Dennis (Susan) Hyslop of Bloomfield; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Hyslop; five grandchildren: Thomas Hyslop, Heather (Ray) Carrillo, Taylor Hyslop, Ryan (Rachael) Hyslop, Kasie (Josh) DeLay and Misti (Joe) Shuffler; ten great-grandchildren: Dusty Walker (Krystal), Peyton Holcomb, Colton Hyslop, Jayci Holcomb, Elise Hyslop, Jacob Hyslop, Sydney DeLay, Reid Hyslop, Will Shuffler, and Madie Shuffler; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Roberts and Rev. Steve Tippen officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Robert Eugene “Bob” Davis Sr., son of the late Homer and Vergie Davis, was born on September 21, 1931 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on February 23, 2021 at his home in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 89 years.
Mr. Davis graduated from Poplar Bluff Senior High School in 1949. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from October 1950 until August 1954, and serving in the Korean War.
On December 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Marna Rhea Gillespie, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mrs. Davis preceded him in death on November 1, 2016.
Bob was a former officer with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, stationed in Dexter. Upon leaving the patrol, he returned to his first love of cars and became a car salesman for Taylor and Christian and the local Ford dealership. He worked for Bud Davis Chevrolet, then joined Chet Medler and bought out Bud Davis becoming Medler Davis Chevrolet in 1968; they sold the dealership in 1985. Bob then partnered with local businessmen in building the Dexter Inn, Charleston Inn, and Hickory House Inn.
Upon retirement from the motel, he concentrated on his golf game. He spent many hours working on his game, never a long ball hitter, it was always straight down the line.
He is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Bayless) Taylor and Donna (Michael) Backfisch, all of Dexter, by his sister, Betty Threlkeld; by five grandchildren, John (Lisa) Taylor of Dexter, Shannon (Jim Cochran) Taylor of Milan, New Hampshire, Michael (Rachel) Backfisch of Lewisville, North Carolina, Devonne Davis of St. Louis, Missouri, and Robbie Davis of Pacific, Missouri; by six great-grandchildren, Baylee (Austin) Decker, Rylee Taylor, Davis Backfisch, Dalton Backfisch, Calvi Cochran, and Londyn Gladney; by two great-great-grandchildren, Taylor Decker and Ryker Decker; and by his very special caregiver, Karen Robinson.
Other than by his wife, Marna, and parents, Homer and Vergie, he was preceded in death by his son, Rob Davis; by his sister, Irene Warren; by his brother, Ralph Davis; and by his brother-in-law, Donn Gillespie.
A memorial service and burial in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery will be planned for a later date.

Mary Helen Thrower, daughter of the late Leeman Thrower and Ethelyn Hudson Thrower, was born on November 27, 1942 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on February 22, 2021 at Bloomfield Living Center in Bloomfield, Missouri at the age of 78 years.
Ms. Thrower was a member of the First Christian Church in Dexter, Missouri and a resident of Dexter.
Graveside services will be conducted at Dexter Cemetery on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

Lovina Lucille Ivy age 90 of Dexter, Missouri passed away February 14, 2021. She was born to the late William Henry and Cora Hasler on September 10, 1930 in Pope County, Arkansas.
Lovina married CJ Ivy on July 18, 1956 in Blytheville, Arkansas. She worked for Harris bank in Chicago, Illinois for over 20 years until she retired in 1995. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Lovina is survived two sons Stan (Sharon) Chism of Texas and Rex (Tish) Ivy of Missouri; one daughter Teresa (Justin) Ivy of Missouri; six grandchildren Dawn and Debbie Chism of Texas, Jason (Christi) Josupait of Missouri, Sondra Ivy Tennessee, Taylor Ivy of Colorado, and Nicki Ivy of South Dakota; six great grandchildren Chris Chism of Texas, Chris Chism of Texas, Logan and Bryce Josupait of Missouri, Kale
Avila, Lane and Cash Politte of Tennessee and one great great grandchild Kennedy Chism of Texas. She is proceeded in death by both of her parents, her husband CJ Ivy; five brothers; five sisters and one son William Scott Ivy. A host of family and friends survive Lovina.
