In Memory of Tony Allen Shaffer

Tony Allen Shaffer (8/1/1989) was the best Uncle (Amberlyn Mae Whitaker & Antonio Cruz McClendon) any kid could wish or hope for. He was also a pain in the butt! Oops we mean he was our son (Melleny and David Peacock & Joey and Jamie Whitaker), our brother (Danielle Whitaker), our nephew (Mark and Robyn Shaffer, Glyn Denkins and Julie Ritter, David and Robin Whitaker), our great nephew (Jerry Peacock) our cousin (Beth Shaffer, Marcy and Josh Kimbrel, Chrissy Whitaker and Nikki Garner), our grandchild (Jim and Lois Peacock including 2 sets who passed before) and our friend... thru thick and thin.

It's no secret Tony had schizophrenia and those of us who knew him through it all got Tony and Tony 2.0 and both parts of his life had its ups and downs. He always had a smile, helped anyone in need and complained about chores until the end. He was endlessly funny and hopelessly serious. When the dreamer died, the thoughtful more black and white thinker was born.

See, this isn't the first time I lost my son, it's just the first time I won't have him here to get to know again. I am gonna miss EVERYTHING about him. His laughter, our laughter, jokes, thoughts with endless conversation back and forth, Amberlyn and him bullying each other and being Antonio's buddy. One thing that was constant thru both Tony's was his insane ability to say no he didn't want to do something yet jumping right up to do it. I want to scream how unfair it was to lose a son twice (6/23/2023) but I also know how lucky we all were to have him.

No services are planned.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter are assisting with arrangements.
