In Memory of Elwanda Rae Pullum

Elwanda Rae Pullum, daughter of the late Ray Edward Metcalf and Maida Ruth Lewis Metcalf, was born on March 31,1944, in Bell City, Missouri, and departed this life on March 16, 2025, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 80 years.


Mrs. Pullum formerly worked for Hudson Foods in Dexter, Missouri. She attended Emanual Baptist Church in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter. She enjoyed fishing and taking drives sightseeing.


On November 6, 1971, in Dexter, Missouri, she was united in marriage to David Pullum. Mr. Pullum survives of their home in Dexter.


Along with her husband, she is survived by her son, Jamie Ray McCoy of Dexter; by three brothers, Perry Metcalf and wife Betty of Advance, Missouri, Earl Metcalf and wife Marcia of Puxico, Missouri, and David Metcalf of Bloomfield, Missouri; and by three sisters, Loretta Green of Dexter, Missouri, Judy Sommers and husband Francis of Puxico, Missouri, and Becky Stephens of Dexter, Missouri.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy; and by two brothers, Richard Dale Metcalf and Eddie C. Metcalf.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Hagy Cemetery.

In Memory of Mary Susan Blanton

Mary Susan Blanton, daughter of the late John J. Ivy and Aurelia Fields Ivy, was born on November 29, 1952, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on March 16, 2025, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 72 years.


Ms. Blanton retired from Arvin Automotive in Dexter with 20 years of service, and she attended Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter. She loved animals, her family, her grandchildren and she loved to season her food with pepper.


She is survived by her daughter, Amy Jo Colbert of Anadarko, Oklahoma; by three grandchildren, Alexander Pugh, Aurelia Colbert, and Bobby Colbert; by her sister-in-law, Marianna Burge of Dexter, Missouri; and by her niece, Jamie Burge Hissong of Hernando, Mississippi.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmie Burge.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

In Memory of Larry Gene Moore

Larry Gene Moore, son of the late Floyd “Frog” Moore and Dorlus Snyder Moore was born on March 31, 1946 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on March 16, 2025 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 78.


Larry had attended the Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter, Missouri and was a resident of Bernie, Missouri. He had worked in the maintenance department at Noranda and enjoyed working on old washers and dryers when he was able to.


On August 25, 1967, he was united in marriage to Barbara Sue Morgan in Bernie, Missouri. Mrs. Moore preceded him in death on February 18, 2018.


He is survived by his son, John Moore and wife Kristen of Dexter, Missouri; and by two grandchildren, Alexis Moore and Brice Moore.


Other than by his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Moore, Wendel Moore Sr., and Mary Crites.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter, Missouri. A memorial service will then be conducted on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lighthouse Christian Church with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Interment will follow at the Bernie City Cemetery.

Rebecca Sue Aguilar, daughter of Brenda Aguilar of Dexter, Missouri, and the late Elias “Alex” Aguilar, was born on September 4, 1986, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on March 16, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Stoddard in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 38 years.


Ms. Aguilar worked for CPC Janitorial in Dexter, Missouri and was a resident of Dexter. She enjoyed attending Comic-Con festivals.


Along with her mother, she is survived by two brothers, Miguel Aguilar of Des Moines, Iowa and Jose Aguilar of Jonesboro, Arkansas; by her boyfriend, Buddy Hall of Dexter, Missouri; and she was a cherished aunt of Emmitt Williams and Isabella Aguilar of Jonesboro, Arkansas.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.

Wilma Sue Stone, daughter of the late Albert Tilton Cochran and Hazel Elizabeth Tubbs Cochran, was born on January 16, 1938, in Obion County, Tennessee and departed this life on March 15, 2025, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 87 years.


Sue previously worked for Crowley Ridge Care Center as a housekeeping supervisor and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.


She is survived by her son, Sammy (Mickey) Stone of Dexter, MO; by six grandchildren, Karissa (Aaron) Hill of Alcoa, TN, Robyn (Sharayah) Stone-Cagle of Jackson, MO, Jessica (Bud) Lykins of Circle City, MO, Monica (Justin) Snyder of Mt. Juliet, TN, Mason Birdsong of Dexter, MO, and Meagan Birdsong of Dexter, MO, by eight great-grandchildren, Nathan Hill, Tyler Hill, Makenna Lykins, Kevin (Kristen) Lykins, Chelsey Lewis, Avana Birdsong, Kolson Snyder, and Kelci Snyder; by seven great-great grandchildren, Savannah, Kole, Kason, Kaden, Kye Lykins, MJ, Elijah Lewis; by her sister, Linda (Clay) Church of Jackson, TN; and by her daughter-in-law, Peggy Stone of Dexter, MO.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rickey Stone, by three brothers, Bobby Gene Cochran, James William (Billy) Cochran and Max Cochran; and by three sisters, Sarah Caroline Crabtree, Donna Matheny and Peggy Cochran.


A graveside service will be held at Hagy Cemetery Tuesday March 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
