In Memory of Eddie Allen Mays

Eddie Allen Mays, son of Faye Branddenburg Baker and the late Edgar Mays, was born on March 12, 1967, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on June 5, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Stoddard in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 58 years.

Mr. Mays was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a resident of Bloomfield, Missouri.  He started working in law enforcement first with the Bloomfield Police Department, then from November 1998 until January 2005 he was a deputy for the Stoddard County Sheriff’s department and since 2013 he was a lieutenant with the Bernie Police Department.  He enjoyed building model cars and playing poker with his family, tending to his flowers and yard at the house, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandbabies.

On November 18, 1994, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Jamie Smith.  Mrs. Mays survives of their home in Bloomfield.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his mother and step-father, Faye and Bill Baker of Bloomfield, Missouri; by his son, Aaron Mays and wife Kelsie of Kennett, Missouri; by his daughter, Kandace Mays of Arkansas; and by eight grandchildren, Madelyn Mays, Jayden Mays, Raylyn Mays, Jentry Mays, Hanna Carter, Ashlynn Bearden, Logan Bearden, and Cait Beck; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Gail Smith of Bloomfield, Missouri; three brothers-in-laws, Cean (Tina) Smith of Strafford, Missouri, Chris (Christina) Smith of Celina, Tennessee and Pete Smith of Bloomfield, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Patricia (Dave) Sprouse of Springfield, Missouri; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Other than by his father, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Aubree Bearden and two brothers, Alan Mays and Robert Mays.

Visitation will be held at Lighthouse Christian Church on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  A memorial service will then be conducted after visitation at  Lighthouse Christian Church at 12:30 p.m.  Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
