All-Conference Volleyball, Morgan Named Coach of the Year

Stoddard County, Missouri - The 2015 SCAA All-Conference Volleyball Teams have been released. 

Carmen Morgan, head volleyball coach at Dexter High School was named Coach of the Year. 

Junior athlete Krysten Garrison of Dexter was named Player of the Year. 

Co-Defensive Players of the Year are Brittany Brown, a senior at Dexter High School and Chelsea Cureton of Woodland. 

First Team All-Conference is Krysten Garrison and Hannah Thurmon of Dexter, Alanis Below of Advance, Krista Rhodes of Woodland, Kayli Tanner, Addie Shelton, and Morgan Baker of Bernie.

Second Team All-Conference is Nicole Roper, Jewel Chism, and Bailey Below of Bloomfield, Bailee Williams of Dexter, Brylee Morse and Addie Curtis of Advance.

Honorable Mentions went to Lexi Barnes, Addie Kruse, Brittany Brown and Julia Hahn of Dexter, Chelsea Cureton and Madison Cover of Woodland, Sarah Copeland of Puxico, Rebecca Heuring of Bell City and Kaley Roper of Bloomfield.

Dexter 7th Grade Boys Take Title at SCAA Tournament

Puxico, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats 7th grade boys basketball team defeated the Bernie Mules to win the 2015 Middle School SCAA Boys Basketball Championship in Puxico, Missouri on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.

The top-seeded Bearcats jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first quarter and a 26-0 lead at half on their way to a 42-9 victory over the #3 seeded Bernie 7th grade Mules.

Jackson Allen and Ryder Boles tied for game-high 14 points each.  Boles one 3-pointer while Allen recorded 4 treys.

Landon Zoll recorded Bernie’s only basket in the first half against the Bearcats.  He finished with a team-high 5 points including one 3-pointer.  John Vaughn recorded one 3-pointer for Bernie. 

Final Score #1 Dexter 42, #3 Bernie 9

Dexter and Bernie Will Go Head-to-Head Tonight in SCAA Championship Games

Puxico, Missouri - The SCAA middle school boys basketball tournaments are set for tonight at the Arnold Ryan Gym in Puxico.  Championship games begin at 6:30 p.m.

Second seeded Puxico Indians 7th grade team will play #4 seeded Bloomfield Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. for 3rd Place. 

Advance seeded #5 will face-off with #6 seeded Puxico at 5:15 p.m. in the 8th grade third place game. 

Top seeded Dexter 7th grade Bearcats are slated to play the #3 seeded Bernie Mules beginning at 6:30 p.m. 

The #1 seeded Dexter 8th grade Cats will play #2 seeded Bernie Mules at approximately 8:00 p.m.

On Monday evening the top seeded Dexter 7th grade boys basketball team defeated the #4 seeded Bloomfield Wildcats 43-12 in semifinal action. 

Jackson Allen led the Cats with 15 points.  He tallied all of his points on five 3-pointers!

Ryder Boles added 9 points for Dexter including one 3-pointer.

Ryan Collier hit one trey for the Bearcats. 

Parker Heaton, Colton Hyslop, and Lane Bader each recorded four points for the Bloomfield Wildcats.

Final Score 7th Grade Dexter 43, Bloomfield 12

In 8th grade semifinal action the top seeded Dexter Bearcats defeated #5 seeded Advance 50 – 18 on Monday.

Brodie Pollock recorded a team-high 18 points for the Bearcats. 

Jack Scruggs and Logan Wyman each added 10 points for Dexter.

Joseph Eaton led Advance with 7 points.

Dexter Honors Fall Sports Athletes
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School held their annual Fall Sports Recognition Program Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the high school auditorium.

Athletes competing in Football, Cross Country, Cheerleading, Girls Tennis, and Volleyball were recognized during the event.

Tyler Stevenson received the Charles Bland Award presented by Jason Comfort.   He also received the Lineman of the Year Award.  He had 54 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery, two sacks, and two pass breakups.  He was also the only senior that started on the young offensive line.

Ethan Stevens received the Most Valuable Back Award and the MPV Award for football.  He tallied 1,285 yards passing and 1,968 yards rushing for a total of 3,253 yards of offense this season.  He threw 10 touchdowns passes and rushed for 31 touchdowns.  Stevens set the single season school record for most points scored in a season, most total yards in a season and most rushing yards in a season at Dexter High School.

Jake Adams received the Defensive MVP Award.  He had 67 tackles and 8 tackles for a loss as the middle linebacker position this season.

In volleyball, Brittany Brown received the Defensive Player of the Year Award.  She tallied a team-high 250 digs.

Krysten Garrison received the Most Kills Award.  She recorded a team-high 295 kills.

Hannah Thurmon received the Most Block Kill Award.

Bailee Williams received the Most Assists Award tallying 353 assists.

In Girls Tennis, Rachel Singh received the Most Singles Wins Award.  She finished the season with a singles record of 9-5.

Lexi May received the Most Doubles Wins Award.  She completed the season with a doubles record of 10-4.

Macy Urhahn received the MVP Award for girls tennis.  She finished with 17 total wins and a doubles record of 12-5.

In Cross Country Emily Ladd received the Most outstanding Female Runner Award. 

Jordan Wood was selected as the Most Outstanding Male Runner in cross country.
