Notre Dame Beats Dexter in Tennis 6 - 3

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - The Dexter boys tennis team traveled to Cape Girardeau to take on the Notre Dame Bulldogs on Tuesday, March 28th.  The Bulldogs came out on top 6 - 3.

Erich Hahn and Zach Potts won their individual singles matches and teamed up to win their doubles match for the only Dexter Bearcat wins.

Notre Dame improved to 2-0 while Dexter dropped to 0-2.

Dexter Baseball Team Beats Cape Central 3 - 1

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats Baseball Team defeated Cape Central Tigers 3 - 1 on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 on the Tiger's home turf.

Spencer Owens was the only multiple hitter in the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides.  Dexter's pitchers struck out three, while hurlers for Central sat down eight. Clay Mullins lasted four innings on the mound to get the win. He gave up no hits and no runs and had one strikeout and two walks.

Dexter took a 1 - 0 lead in the third, but Cape Central (1-6) tied it in the bottom of the fifth with C. Borders driving in one when he singled.

D. Mills took the loss for Central.  He threw two innings, allowing two runs, four hits, striking out tow, and walking none.

Trevor McDonald started the game for the Bearcats.  He went five innings, giving up one run, three hits, striking out two, and walking one.  J. Baker started the game for Central.  He pitched seven innings, giving up one run, four hits, striking out six, and walking one.

Mullins and McDonald each drove in one run to lead Dexter.

Dexter defeated Neelyville 17 - 6 on Thursday, March 30th.  They will play at Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 5th at 4:30 p.m.

Poplar Bluff Boys Tennis Team Beats Dexter

Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The Dexter High School Tennis team traveled to Poplar Bluff on Thursday, March 23, 2017.  Poplar Bluff won 8-1.

"The boys played hard," commented DHS head boys tennis coach Kurt Lovelady.  "I saw where we have a lot to still work on, especially with shot placement. Most of the boys saw their first varsity action yesterday and there were some jitters that will get better with time."

Missouri Hunters Need to Update App Prior to Turkey Season
Update MDC MO Hunting app to telecheck harvests for spring turkey season.

Missouri - Turkey hunters who use the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) MO Hunting free mobile app will need to perform an app update to telecheck harvests for spring turkey season. The new versions will provide updated turkey telecheck information.

Both Apple and Android users will need to install the app update to telecheck turkey harvests. Apple users must have at least the iOS 9.0 version to use the updated MO Hunting app. Android users must have at least Android 5.0.

The youth spring turkey season runs April 8 and 9 and the regular spring turkey season runs April 17 through May 7. Learn more at huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/hunting-trapping/species/turkey and from the MDC “2017 Spring Turkey Hunting Regulations & Information” booklet, available at MDC offices and nature centers and other locations where permits are sold.

MO Hunting is available for download through Google Play for Android devices or the App Store for Apple devices. For more information, go online to mdc.mo.gov/mohunting.

Hunters can buy permits through MDC’s MO Hunting app and from numerous permit vendors around the state such as gas stations, convenience stores, sporting-goods and other retail stores, many MDC offices, and all MDC nature centers. Hunters can also buy permits online at mdc.mo.gov/buypermits. Hunters can save time by buying permits for multiple people in a single transaction by selecting the “Additional Customer” option during the permit purchase.

Bernie 7th and 8th Grade Volleyball Tournament Continues

Bernie, Missouri - The Bernie 7th and 8th grade Volleyball Tournament begins their Championship bracket on Tuesday, March 28th at 4 p.m with Advance taking on Puxico at the High School Gym.

Game # 2 begins at 5 p.m. with Bernie 7th grade vs Bloomfield 7th grade in the high school gym.

Game #3 is also set to begin at 5 p.m. with Bernie 8th grade vs Bell City 8th grade in the elementary gym.

Game #4 will be Dexter vs Sikeston at 4 p.m. in the elementary gym.

Game #5 will feature the winner of the Advance/Puxico game and Bernie/Bloomfield game and is slated to begin at 6 p.m. in the high school gym.

Game #6 will feature the winner of the Bernie 8th/Bell City and the Dexter/Sikeston game and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the elementary gym.

The Championship game will begin at 7 p.m. in the high school gym.  Games are running ahead of schedule so please arrive early!
