February Athletes of the Month Named
The Poplar Bluff Mules Booster Club has named Raegan McAtee and Quinten Bell of Poplar Bluff High School the February Athletes of the Month, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Quinten, a junior wrestler, has a record of 33 wins. He was a 2019 state qualifier, placed third at district along with the SEMO Conference, placed fourth at the Fred Ross Invitational, and second at the Patriot Classic. In the classroom, he maintains a 9.74 grade point average.

“Quinten Bell is a great student and athlete,” said Kelton Thomson, his coach. “He was voted a team captain by his teammates and has a reputation of being an extremely hard worker. Quinten has sacrificed a lot to achieve the success he has this year in wrestling.”

Raegan, a senior swimmer, is the PBHS record holder in the 200 freestyle relay with 1:42.81. She has been an all-state honorable mention each year of her high school career in multiple events including the current year during which she made all-state in the 100 butterfly. She earned top placement each year in all-conference as well, including being named champion in all events in 2016. Ranked 13th in her class, she has a 10.917 GPA.

“Rae has been a huge asset to the team the last four years,” stated Elizabeth Lewis, her coach. “She is extremely coachable, and pleasant to be around. She is willing to do what it takes in the pool to help her teammates. Her personality and hard work will be missed.”

2019 DHS Baseball - New Season, New Leadership

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School baseball team is slated to open its season on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at East City Park where they will face the defending Class 3 state champion the Malden Green Wave at 10:00 a.m. and then Clearwater at 2:00 p.m.

The Bearcats lost six starters from the 2018 season that went 5-16.  Longtime head coach Brian Becker retired and assistant coach Drew Pixley has now stepped up to take over as head coach in the 2019 season.  There are also a lot of new faces at the varsity level as well.

Drew Pixley is a 2007 graduate of Dexter High School and wasa  three time 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-District during his high school baseball career.  He played two years of college baseball at Mineral Area College before playing two more years at Murray State University graduating in 2012.

Pixley has a passion for baseball there is no doubt that he will bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the plate.  He moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 2014 and worked for Elite Baseball where his main focus was to develop young baseball players and prepare them to play at the next level.  He worked with more than 120 athletes that have either played baseball, are currently playing, or are signed to play next year.  He also helped analyze swing mechanics for Derek Fisher, who is currently playing for the Houston Astros as an outfielder and was a 2017 World Series Champion.

It's great to have him back in Dexter working with our youth and developing talent on the baseball field.  He is assisted by his father, Aaron Pixley, and by veteran assistant coach Cody Boyer.
