
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School held their annual Fall Sports Awards Program on Monday, November 18, 2019. Cross Country, Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Cheer and Football athletes were honored by their coaches.

Poplar Bluff, Missouri - Dexter High School graduate and Three Rivers College sophomore, Miss Hannah Thurmon, signed with University of California-Riverside to play basketball.
Thurmon signed on Monday, November 18, 2019 and coach Jeff Walk will send his first player ever to the west coast.
She was spotted by UC at the national tournament last year and the coach just kept in contact.
Thurmon is a 6-foot-1 guard/forward for the Lady Raiders and has turned into the top 3-point shooter.
As a freshman she started every game and averaged 9.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Thurmon is now shooting 42% from the field and is avering 7 three-pointers per game.
The UC Riverside Highlanders are known to venture into the NCAA Tournament and have three time in 2006, 2007 and 2010. The university is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles They are in the Big West Conference.
Hannah is the daughter of Matt and Mindy Thurmon. She is a 2018 graduate of Dexter High School.
She participated in volleyball for three year and basketball all four years of high school.
Hannah was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, Sr. Beta Club, Pepp Club, and Future Teachers of America.
In basketball she earned All Conference, All District, and the Dexter High School team Blocking Award in both her freshman and junior season. As a senior she has made the Lady Royals Classic All-Tournament Team ans was the Player of the Game at the Poplar Bluff Shootout.

Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The 2019 SEMO Border challenge will feature the Lady Bearcats, Ozark, Earle (Arkansas), Lady Mules, Lady Bulldogs, and Benton (Illinois) at Poplar Bluff High School.
The Border Challenge will be held Thursday, December 12th - Saturday, December 14th.

Doniphan, Missouri - The Doniphan Dons hosted a boys basketball Jamboree on Tuesday evening. Coach Chad Allen debuted as the new boys basketball coach switching over from the Lady Bearcats this season.
He rotated the squad throughout each contest featuring two seniors, seven juniors, one sophomore and one freshman.
"Overall, I thought it was a good jamboree for us against some competitive teams," commented head boys basketball coach Chad Allen. "It gives us a good idea on what we need to work on over the next few weeks before the regular season starts."
The Bearcats played overall pretty well in the contests. and should bring a lot of great action to the Bearcat Event Center this season.
The Jamboree was a very physical match-up with all teams participating.
They split with the West Plains Zizzers then dropped two to the Lesterville Bearcats and won both games against the Doniphan Dons for a record of 3 and 3.
