Dexter Baseball Team Can't Catch Up To Jackson

Cape Girardeau, MO - The Dexter High School baseball team opened their portion of the SEMO Conference Baseball Tournament against the #2 seeded Jackson Indians (15-5).  The Bearcats watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 10-4 loss on Friday, April 30th at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau.

Nine days earlier when the two teams met, Jackson fell behind 6-3, but managed to score two runs in the seventh winning by only 1 run. Final score was 7-6.

On Friday, Dexter struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Jackson, giving up ten runs.

The Indians jumped out ahead 7-1 in the second inning.

Dexter tallied three runs in the fifth inning led by Adam Saylors, Peyton Driskill, and Riley Slusher.

Jackson's pitcher, Clayton Ernst, allowed five hits and four runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Adam McClanahan threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Driskill took the loss for the Bearcats. The right-hander went one and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out two.

Driskill led Dexter with two hits in four at bats.
