Dexter, Mo - Freedom of Road Riders Local 20 and the Dexter Double Deuce will host a benefit Fish Fry for funeral expenses of Cleus Leake. The event will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at 25 N. Locust St.
Leake was a member of the Dexter Freedom of Road Riders Local 20 and passed away on July 19, 2021 at his home.
Fish plates are $10 each includes three pieces of fish, three sides. They will start serving at 4:00 p.m. and serve until they run out of fish

Cletus Leake, was born on April 8, 1957, in Center, Missouri, and departed this on July 19, 2021 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 64 years.
Mr. Leake was a handyman, working in heating and air, and electrical. He was a member of the Independence RC motorcycle club and the Freedom of Roadriders Motorcycle club.
On July 11, 2011, he was united in marriage to Sally Hill. Mrs. Leake survives of their home in Dexter.
In addition to his wife Sally, he is survived by his son, Jeremy Leake, by his daughter, Dondi Leake, by his step-son, Jody Hill of Malden, Missouri, by two step-daughters, Tabatha Weaver of Tennessee and April Bridges of Risco, Missouri; by his brother, David Leake of Center, Missouri; by his sister Katrina Leake, and by twelve grandchildren.

As summer weather heats up and the pandemic continues, it can be hard to keep spirits up. It's sometimes difficult to feel connected to the wider community. We have an easy way to help others and help yourself: give blood! Donating blood is a safer way to get out of the house and socialize. You can enjoy the warm, cozy feeling of knowing you were of service to others. You may even find yourself making a new friend (at a safe distance)!
There is an ongoing need for blood, and your single donation could help save more than one life. Will you step up to give this month?
Platelets and type AB plasma also needed
Platelet donors and those with type AB blood are also continually needed to help ensure patients receive the lifesaving blood products they need. Platelets – a key clotting component of blood often needed by cancer patients, surgical patients and bone narrow recipients – must be transfused within five days of donation, so donations are constantly needed. Donors with type AB blood are urged to give blood or platelets to restock the plasma supply. Type AB donors have the universal plasma type, which can be given to patients of all blood types.
How to donate blood
The free Blood Donor App – available in app stores by searching for American Red Cross or by texting BLOODAPP to 90999 – not only makes appointment scheduling easy, but donors can also access their digital donor card and be notified when their donation is distributed to a hospital. Donors can also visitredcrossblood.orgor call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Blood donors in the Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region can now save time at their next donation by using RapidPass to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, prior to arriving at the blood drive. Bloomfield, MO - Peter Coutavas has been selected as the new Director of the IDASC
"The purpose of the IDA is to develop, advance, and encourage economic development through the promotion of commercial, industrial, agricultural and manufacturing facilities and tourism in Stoddard County."
Coutavas has been on the Board of Directors for the IDA for 17 years. He is presently 81 years old and has more energy than most his age. "I've always worked even since I retired at the age of 50. I just have so much more to accomplish in my life," commented Coutavas.
He has worked for some major corporations like IBM and General Telephone. He also served in the Air Force and at the age of 60 he moved to Puxico from New York. He has served as a city alderman and city mayor for Puxico.
In the evenings you might find him sitting on his porch smoking a cigar and enjoying the "slow" life of southeast Missouri.
What is the IDASC? It stands for the Industrial Development Authority of Stoddard County and the office is located at 310 South Prairie St. Bloomfield. If you would like to check out their website click HERE.
"We have sort of an identity problem in our county," stated Coutavas. "We need to get the word out! The Board of Directors has authorized me to spend $40,000 however I see fit. I have decided to give each of the communities $5,000."
The IDASC receives $1.50 for every ton of garbage dumped at the local landfill.
"I attended the Essex City Council Meeting and found a young man who wanted to put an American Flag pole up at the fire station at a cost of $1,150. I felt that to be a great idea!"
The IDASC also has a "Million Dollar Grand Fund" that is allocated based on a cities population.
Over the next few months more stories will be written about the IDASC. Coutavas hopes to educate the public on what they do and how they can help businesses and communities in the area!
